Detained Binance executive in custody Escapes From EFCC Detention In Abuja

The British-Kenyan national's escape route, possibly via a Middle East airline, raises questions about how he managed to leave with his British passport held by Nigerian authorities.

Reportedly, one of the Binance executives held in Nigeria over allegations of tax evasion and other infractions, Nadeem Anjarwalla, has apparently fled from custody.

The Nigerian government detained both senior Binance executives in February amid efforts to regulate cryptocurrency exchanges and curb speculation on the naira.

Binance faces charges including failure to pay Value-Added Tax and Company Income Tax, failure to submit tax returns, and complicity in aiding tax evasion by customers using its platform.

Anjarwalla reportedly escaped from the Abuja guest house where he and his colleague were held, allegedly taking advantage of a visit to a nearby mosque.

The British-Kenyan national's escape route, possibly via a Middle East airline, raises questions about how he managed to leave with his British passport held by Nigerian authorities.

Authorities are reportedly investigating his travel using a Kenyan passport, as he had no other travel documents besides his British one at the time of arrest.

Sources suggest the executives enjoyed privileges during detention, including phone access, which may have facilitated the escape plan.

Efforts to confirm the incident with the Office of the National Security Adviser have yet to yield a response.
